I've had several people ask me, "Why Arizona?"
Here's a few of my reasons:
The Dent-Dixons, {my favorite AZ cousins live here}
Affordable housing {I was able to buy a nice house as opposed to a ghetto condo}
Commute cut by more than 1/2
Still lotsa wide open space
Lotsa singles equals lotsa eligible bachelors
Heat
Transferred my job {no probs}
Not too far from the 'rents {can still take weekend road trips home}
Lotsa members
Cafe Rio
Blue Bell ice cream at local grocery stores {not $119 for 4 half gallons shipped}
The beautiful desert landscaping {I'm serious, I never realized how pretty the desert is}
The Gilbert Temple will be less than 5 miles from my new house
Good place to raise a future fam

I lost my marbles!
I drove all the way to work and then realized that I didn't have my computer! Yup! Can't work without the computer! Who does that?
So...I drove all the way home and then all the way back to work. Sad thing is I did all that in the amount of time that it would have taken me just to get to work in CA!

Arizona Identity
I've given up my Californian Identity in every sense of the word. It's a sad realization, but my move has been great all around.
Here's some of the ways that I've gained my Arizona Identity...
Here's some of the ways that I've gained my Arizona Identity...
- I have a house in the AZ.
- I have an Arizonan driver's license.
- I have (480) phone numbers.
- I run my air conditioning 24/7.
- I turned down the opportunity to serve jury duty in Orange County.
- I drive an AZ registerd vehicle.
- Funny story: This week I got a notice from the MVD that I had a "potential out-of of state registration problem." Come to find out because I have an Arizona driver's license and I don't have a vehicle registered here I was red flagged!
- It no longer takes me 45 minutes to go 11 miles to work, I now go 10 miles in 15-20 minutes!
- I'm no longer 20 miles to the beach! :(

Papacito
My "dear old" dad and me...I love and admire that man. Side note...doesn't he look good in bright pink?
For Father's Day, I sent my dad a "Dear OLD Dad Kit" (the focus was on old man necessities)
Items included:
Items included:
-Potato gun-For the "kid" in him. My dad never grew up...most men don't.
-Hot and cold pack thingy-For the "old man" aches and pains.
-Ibuprofen-also for the "old man" aches and pains.
-Werther's Hard Candies-The official "old man" candy.
-Ace bandage-For the "I've fallen and I get get up" aftermath.
-Sticky notes-To lessen the "Jeff Redd, M.D." (not M.D. as in "medical doctor," but M.D. as in "memory distorter") moments. Dad loves sticky notes to notate his "to do"/reminder list. One of his greatest talents is that he's a great story teller and likes to embellish/distort the facts to make a better story, but we raz him that he has a memory deficit.
-Uni-ball pens-the famous "Dad" pen. Dad loves those pens.
I love you, Dad!
