Bry Guy Came to Town

Hungry for a midnight snack...

Our hillbilly toes...maybe even Shrek style.

Watch out!
Bryan got to go {real} shooting with the cousins one morning.
Sure glad he survived the jumping cactus attack!

My hand is the one on the left and Bry's is on the right...Pretty much the same size. He's growing up!

Don't really know...

Ah, for cute!

Mom and Bry Guy came to town this weekend. So fun to have them!

Bry and I had a lot of fun taking these silly pix at midnight...some of which are not be pictured here! {We still have SOME pride!}

Joys of Being a Homeowner

My first {joy} of being a homeowner...REPAIRS!

Last week I was putting some stuff away in the laundry room and I came upon a not so happy sight! The closet was being inundated by mold. Yuck! Who woulda thought? The house isn't all that OLD! The area by the water heater on the other side of the wall was completely dry. The ceiling was dry...the leak HAD to be coming from inside the wall!

I contacted the home builder and they came to the rescue. Come to find out, when they put in the shelf one of the nails pierced the pipe and slowly, but surely the pipe leaked leaving perfect conditions for mold! Lucky for me the home builder stepped up to the plate and the repairs didn't come out of my pocket book! Whew!

So glad I found it when I did!

I believe in Angels

Around noon today there was a big, loud bang, bash...the sound of a crash. Oddly, most of us didn't think much of it 'cause there's crashes at that intersection all the time...people driving too fast and no left turn arrow...often not a good combination....This time it was much worse!

Several of my coworkers were on their way to get a burger and were at the corner waiting for the "white man" to flash signaling that it was safe to cross. Well, someone made an unsafe left turn and bam two cars collided. One of the cars lost control, hit a large electrical box and pinned one of my pedestrian coworkers between the car, the electrical box and a bush! She couldn't move. All we could see was her blonde head poking out. The cops and fire department arrived shortly. The paramedics couldn't get her out! They ended up mangling the bush and eventually got her free. They placed her on a stretcher, neck brace and all, and the ambulance took her...we didn't know what her condition was...

She was released a few hours later! Seriously it was a miracle! She's complaining of hip pain and I'm sure she'll be quite sore, but she's ok! No blood! No broken bones! She seriously had to have an angel watching over her! There had to be other angels watching my other coworkers who escaped unscathed! It could have and should have been much worse!

The crazy thing is that about five minutes before the crash, I mentioned to another coworker that I wanted to go to Neds Krazy Subs for lunch, but I decided against it 'cause I, for once, brought my lunch. A restaurant sandwich sounded so much better though! I was so grateful I opted to eat my {not so exciting} lunch instead! I very easily could have been walking over with my coworkers to get lunch! It very easily could have been me! Crazy! {Sigh!/Deep breath!}

We were all quite shaken up, but quite relieved to hear that she has minimal injuries considering!

Unwanted Visitor

So last night, at midnight, I was locking up the house and turning off all the lights. Out of the corner of my eye I saw a shadow...something moving... and I was a little, I guess you could say {apprehensive}. My roommie is outta town so i was a little extra {jumpy} to have something moving around in my house other than me. At first glance, I thought, "Oh, a cricket." (Crickets are pretty common to find (and hear) around here), but just for fun I turned on the hall light and, lo and behold, I found a SCORPION! Insert huge yelp here! Yup! That's right, one of those arthropods that have stingers...and poisonous venom. Ya! I nearly stepped on it with my bare foot! Don't you worry. I grabbed a cup and flipped it over the unwelcomed creature...and left it there. I just couldn't get myself to smash or excavate it. So pretty much tensed up and uh, couldn't sleep. I was totally creeped out slash hyped up. I'm still walking around my house all guarded and on my tippy toes. Oh I wish I could have been a spider on the wall to watch this all happen. Funny thing is the cup...and the scorpion are still sitting on my floor.

I can handle an occasional cricket and pincher bug, but I sure can't tolerate scorpions or our scurrying friends...cockroaches. I am looking for another roommie, but not an 8-legged one that can make me froth at the mouth, and who just moves in without an invite!

Any cures? Any ways to keep these insecs away? Anyone want new pet?
